Op deze website plaats ik de komende jaren berichten over de voortgang van mijn promotie onderzoek naar seksualiteit en jongeren in Ghana in samenwerking met de Ghanese organisatie Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana in Bolgatanga.
Kort samengevat onderzoek ik de denkbeelden en praktijken van jongeren in Bolgatanga in het noorden van Ghana t.a.v. relaties en seksualiteit. Op basis daarvan zal ik adviezen geven over voorlichtingsmiddelen voor deze doelgroep.
Studenten van Hogeschool Inholland werken mee aan het onderzoek. In april 2010 reisden twee studenten SPH en Pedagogiek naar Bolgatanga voor hun bacheloronderzoek, en in februari en april 2011 reisden communicatiestudent Nicole de Leeuw en CMV student Simone Crince ook naar Bolgatanga (weblog: http://blondgoesabroad.waarbenjij.nu).
Op dit moment werk ik aan mijn eerste artikel op basis van de interviews gehouden in Bolgatanga in 2009 en 2010 (zie linkerkolom 'Mijn andere reizen' ). Op 16 juni 2011 vertrek ik voor de volgende dataverzameling weer naar Ghana.
Via de 1procent club zamel ik samen met de Youth Harvest Foundation geld in voor tafels en stoelen voor een junior high school. De YHFG heeft een school laten bouwen in een heel afgelegen gebied waar de meeste kinderen niet naar school gingen. Maar de kinderen liggen/zitten nu nog op de grond tijdens de les. On this website I report the next coming years about my PhD research on youth and sexuality in Ghana in cooperatuon with the Ghanaian NGO Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana in Bolgatanga in the far north east of Ghana.
In short, I will investigate the conceptions and practices of youth in Bolgatanga concerning their relationships and sexuality. Based on this I will do suggestions for the improvement of sexual health programmes for the youth over there.
Student of Inholland University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands contribute to this research project. In April 2010 two students Social Work travelled to Bolgatanga for their bachelor thesis. In February and March 2011 also two students communication and Social Work went to Bolgatanga to collect data for their bachelor thesis.
At this stage I am writing my first article to submit to a journal. The article is based on the data collection held in 2009 and 2010 (left site of the page 'Mijn andere reizen' ). June 16th 2011 I will go to Ghana for the next data colletion.
With the "1 percent club" I try to raise money for the Youth Harvest Foundation for school benches for the newly built Junior High School in Zongoire, a rural area near Bolgatanga. Most children didn't go to school beore, now they do but they still sit on the floor and do not have benches or tables during their lessons. Every small donation is helpfull!
